Zelpha F. Blumenthal was born March 7, 1915 in Gladwin and died at age 94 on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Bortz Health Care in West Branch. Zelpha had lived in West Branch since 1945. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Zion Rose Chapter #117 of the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church all of West Branch. Zelpha is survived by her sisters, Leobelle Saylor of Waterford and Ruth Doyle of Beaverton and her brothers, Roger Foust of Phillipsberg, MT and George Foust of Gladwin, her sister in law, Laura Blumenthal, many nieces and nephews including Carol Kerby and Sharon Gordinear. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Keith in 1948, her second husband Snook Blumenthal in 1991, a son Robert Keith in 1936 and her two sisters, Ottolene Scheuer and Marcine Rice. Visitation is at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 2-9 p.m. with an Eastern Star Service of Memory at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. Zelpha will lie in state at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Mary E. Lynch and Rev. Cindy Gibbs will officiate. Burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
