Zachary Joseph Beck

Zachary Joseph Beck, age 16, tragically passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in West Branch, MI. He was born on December 4, 2007, in West Branch to Mark Beck and Kendra (Whisman) Beck.  He was a kind-hearted soul with a deep love for his family and a passion for serving his community.

From a young age, Zach had big dreams of becoming a volunteer firefighter and continuing the legacy of the family farm business at Gallagher Dairy Farm in West Branch. Despite his young age, he was determined and hardworking, with a spirit full of compassion and dedication.

Zach attended Ogemaw Heights High School where he found joy in the shop class and cherished the relationships he built with both staff and students. While he may not have loved school in its entirety, Zach's old soul shone through in his interactions with others.

In his free time, Zach enjoyed immersing himself in nature through fishing trips and hunting expeditions, especially coyotes . He also found excitement in activities like tractor pulls and derby car events, showcasing his adventurous spirit and love for thrills. He was a proud member of the 4-H and FFA. 

Zach will be deeply missed by his parents Mark and Kendra Beck; sister Alexandrea (Trenton) Moore; brother Cole (Sydney Lademan) Beck; grandmother Roberta Beck; grandparents Larry and Marsha Whisman; nieces and nephews Ellianne, Scotti, and Reid; uncles and aunts, Kevin (Jaimie) Whisman, Kimberly Kummler, Kara (Joseph) Neuman, very special loving aunt Kristy Whisman, Karla (James) Mattson, Chad (Lori) Beck, Grace (Loren) Caverly, Laurie (Jennifer Strochine) Beck, and Katie (Joe) Weber; his dog Tessa; as well as cousins, extended family members, the staff at OHHS who meant so much to him, and neighbors who became like family to Zachary.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Richard Beck and cousin Reid Jones. 

Though Zach's time with us was cut short, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation services for Zach will take place at the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds, 2300 Rifle River Trail, West Branch, MI 48661 on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.  Pastor Steve Decker will officiate.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the family which will be given to several charities that were near and dear to Zach and the family.

In honoring Zach's life and legacy, let us remember his gentle spirit, unwavering love for his family, and dedication to making a difference in the world around him. May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished beyond measure.
