William (Bill) Nelson Meiser, 90, of West Branch Michigan, went home to both his earthly home and then his eternal home in Heaven on March 13, 2025. After multiple days on hospice in the hospital in Petoskey, dad insistently requested to go home to West Branch. In honor of his request, transport arrangements were made, and dad made his way south to his earthly home. When he arrived, he was very aware that he had made it home. Minutes from being transferred to his bed, his soul entered his eternal home in Heaven.

Bill was born January 27, 1935, in Elgin Illinois, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Meiser) Nelson. Bill was adopted and loved as their son by John and Eva Meiser of West Branch, Michigan.

Bill graduated from West Branch High School in 1953, then went on to the school of hard knocks, earning a degree in responsibility, independence, resilience, dedication, work ethic, common sense, resourcefulness and commitment.

Bill joined the Marine Corps in 1954 and served until honorably discharged in 1957.

Bill married Phyllis Winter on June 15,1956. Bill and Phyllis were married for 51 years. On July 31, 2007, Phyllis went to her eternal home in Heaven. In their love they co-created with God and brought four blessings to life: Lisa, Tanna, Sally, and Greg. Bill frequently expressed his pride in his grandchildren: Greg Stuck, Eric Stuck, Allen Stuck, Sybil Stuck, Briana Walsh, Chelsea Walsh, Cara Crawford, Alex Meiser, Elliot Meiser, and Imelia Meiser and his seventeen great grandchildren.

Bill worked as a highway inspector for the State of Michigan prior to becoming the owner and operator of the Kountry Kitchen Restaurant in Rose City, Michigan. After retirement, Bill spent many hours working on projects for his children.

There are many attributes and events that express Bill’s life. He especially enjoyed maintaining his home and especially his lawn. He had a very diverse skill set and put his skills to assist many family members and friends. He was a lifelong learner and devoured many informational magazines, books, videos. Signature foods were homemade Kountry Kitchen chicken noodle soup and homemade ice cream. Bill was strong-willed, charming, witty and sassy. One of his favorite sayings was “Everything going to be okay”. His good nature and generous spirit were enjoyed and appreciated by many. His faith in God was great and up to his death he was sharing the love of God the Father. Sharing that the only way to the Father is through His son Jesus Christ.
