William J. VanVolkenburg, age 77, passed away at his home Monday, March 26, 2007. William lived in St. Helen since 1985, formerly of Mt. Morris. He was a member of the American Legion Post #416 and local #659 Chevrolet. William enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and playing euchre. William is survived by his wife, Lola VanVolkenburg; daughter Janene (Fred) Skiba of St. Helen, son Jerry (Brenda) VanVolkenburg of Carleton; stepson James Oost of Grayling, stepdaughter Judith Goldsmith of Flint, stepdaughter Jennifer (Terry) Noltie of Lapeer, stepdaughter Cathy (Philip) Stewart of Flint, brother Cleo (Marge) VanVolkenburg of Flint, brother Earl (Marie) VanVolkenburg of CA and sister Jeanita Barnett of CA. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Eva, son James, great-grandson Zackary, brother Glenn Jr. and sister Violet. Special thanks to Seton Cancer Center and Hospice of Helping Hands, both of West Branch. Visitation will begin Thursday, March 29, 2007 from 3-9 p.m. at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen, Michigan. Funeral services will be Friday, March 30, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, St. Helen, Michigan. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
