William J. Lacey

February 8, 1926 — February 19, 2007

William J. Lacey, age 81, passed away Monday, February 19, 2007 at the West Branch Regional Medical Center. Bill has been a resident of West Branch since 1989 previously of Mt. Clemens. He was a proud Navy veteran and Fighting Seebee in WWII's Pacific Theater. Bill was a 30 year member of the UAW and retired from the Ford Motor company where his hard work and ingenuity earned him a position of the gear and transmission research team. He loved going to the "Coffee Club at Glens" for a cup of coffee, to offer a smile and to share his crusty "Bah Humbug" sense of humor. Bill will be remembered as a proud and doting Grandpa and Great Grandpa, a loving husband, a caring father and a good friend. William is survived by his daughter-Shelley (Greg) Gutt of Richmond, son-Kelley (Patty) Lacey of Warren, son-Barry (Terri) Hughes of Spring Branch, TX, daughter-Linda (Joe) Hughes-Martin of Braselton, GA, daughter-Karene Hughes of Grand Rapids, son-Tom (Val) Hughes of Grand Rapids and daughter-in-law Mary Hughes of Arlington, TX, grandchildren, Andrea (Adam) D'Angela of Sarnia, Ontario Canada and Amber Morgan of Warren, great-granddaughter Tessa D'Angela of Sarnia, Ontario Canada, brothers Tom (Rosemary) Lacey of Chesterfield, Richard (Ruth) Lacey of Mississippi, and Rev. Jack Lacey of Macomb. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sharon Lacey in 1986 and his second wife Shirley Hughes-Lacey in 2002, and brothers James, Art, Mickey and Bob as well as his parents John and Eveline (Weber) Lacey. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Brookside Cemetery, West Branch, at 12:00 p.m. A memorial luncheon will follow at Matthews at the Club in West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
