Wayne Norman Young, a beloved husband, father, grandfather of St. Helen, MI, and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Midland, MI, at the age of 73. He was born on June 28, 1951, in Detroit, MI to Norman and Irene (Peck) Young. Wayne touched the lives of all who knew him with his spirit and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
After dedicating 25 years of his career to Dupont, Wayne found immense satisfaction in his work, but it was the relationships he forged along the way that mattered most to him. He was a valued member of Calvary Baptist Church of West Branch, where his faith guided him throughout his life.
Wayne enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, often finding joy in weekly meetings with friends at Colonial Bakery in West Branch, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air like the aroma of freshly baked goods. He cherished the time spent with his long time family friend, Dennis Sisco and hunting deer, a pursuit that brought him closer to nature and camaraderie amongst friends. He also took pride in attending his grandsons' baseball and football games, cheering them on with fervor and love that will be fondly remembered.
With a passion for creativity, Wayne loved refinishing furniture and crafting birdhouses. Every piece he crafted carried a part of his heart, a testament to his talents and attention to detail. He also relished meals at Big Boy, where he was known to appreciate the great waitstaff who became a familiar part of his life.
Wayne is survived by his cherished wife, Catherine (nee Hale) Young; his daughters, Tammy Young and Courtney (Kyle) Sisco, and Stephanie (John Manley) Link, continue to carry forward his legacy of love and strength. Wayne was the proud grandfather of Isaac Sisco, Jacob Sisco, Tyler Sisco, Ryan Link, and John H. Manley—each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his brother, Robert Young.
