Wayne Kurth Cavanaugh, age 77, quietly passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at The Villa at Rose City. He lived in Prescott, MI for the past 20 years, formerly from the Detroit area. Wayne was born to John and Mabel (Richards) Cavanaugh in Highland Park, MI on March 8, 1939. He married Rosemary Marnon, to his endless delight, on August 13, 1960 in Detroit, MI. He served in the United States Air Force for six years before embarking on a 28 year career as a Master Mechanic for General Motors. Wayne enjoyed racing hydro-plane boats, and riding motorcycles, though the affection was not necessarily returned in equal measure. He also reveled in his Irish heritage, music, a love of words, and single malt scotch, often all at once. But his chief love was family, to whom he was completely devoted and for whom he provided endless inspiration, love, and laughter.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rosemary Cavanaugh of Prescott, MI; children, Kay-Cee (Gustave) Rayl of Royal Oak, MI, Peggy Gomez of Grand Rapids, MI, Sean (Shelly) Cavanaugh of Farmington Hills, MI, Dan (Jean) Cavanaugh of Belleville, MI, and Erin (Lawrence Cordova) Cavanaugh of New Mexico; and 12 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mabel.
