Wayne George Muringer, age 83, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, with family by his side at the Horizon Senior Center in St. Helen, MI. Wayne has lived in Prescott, MI for many years and prior to moving to Prescott lived in Saginaw, MI. He also resided in Grand Marais for a number of years before returning to Prescott, MI to be closer to his children. Wayne was born January 3, 1936 in Bay City, Michigan to Edward and Aletha Muringer. He married Alice (Goyette) on June 29, 1957 and together they raised their children in Saginaw. Wayne worked at a furniture shop and then GM in Bay City until he retired and they moved to Grand Marais to enjoy the peaceful setting. Wayne enjoyed family more than anything else but fishing and hunting were close seconds. He just loved nature and anything to do outside he was on it. Wayne enjoyed long walks in the woods, berry picking, smoking fish, growing things, all kinds of hunting. He was fortunate enough to go on many long trips of outback camping and fishing. Later in life Wayne and Alice would winter in Florida where they loved to shell hunt and take walks along the beach. They made friends wherever they went.
Wayne is survived by his loving sons Gerald (Renita) Muringer, Wayne (Charlotte) Muringer, grandchildren: Jake (Nicole) Muringer, Christopher (Amber) Muringer, Josh Muringer, Amberlee (Isaac) Pruitt, Crystal Peters, Amber Peters, Michael (Jennifer) Bunker, Alicia (Denny) Ranger, along with 19 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ron Muringer and Robert Muringer.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers (Jerry and Johnny), and sister, Ida May.
