Walter S. Montney age 78 of St. Helen passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at his home. He had lived in St. Helen for the past 11 years formerly of Grand Blanc. Walter was a “Jack of all Trades” including farming, a factory operator, working in plumbing and heating and pipe fitting. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, helping and watching the grandchildren have fun, including fishing or riding the go-cart. Walter is survived by his wife Anna of St.Helen, children, Linda McArthur of West Branch, Mike Montney of Kalkaska, Richard Montney of St. Helen, Anna (David) Farmar of Flint, George Montney (Kay Maars) of Alger, Jay Montney of Flint, Stephen Montney of St. Helen and Sam Montney of Flint, many many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Peggy (Beulah) Barber of Hale and his brother, John Montney of New Mexico and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Cordelia, 2 brothers Joseph “Bud” Montney and Carson Montney, 3 sisters, Dora Dotson, Hazel Betts and Lillian Balcer, his grandsons Jesse Bennett and Stephen J. Montney II, a son-in- law Richard McArthur and a daughter-in-law Ginnice Montney. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the West Branch Church of God, 601 Progress Street, West Branch, MI. Bishop Eric Rogers will officiate.
