Walter Niedowicz

Walter Niedowicz, age 87 of St. Helen, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Niedowicz had lived in St. Helen since 1969. He was a member of the American Legion Post #416 and was a member and the First Charter Commander of the VFW Post #5680. He was an all around sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Walter coached many men’s and women’s championship teams. He also enjoyed the Detroit Tigers. Walter is survived by his children, Linda Leopard, JoAnn Wojtylko and Nancy (Dennis) Wise all of St. Helen, grandchildren; Wally (Vicki) Sidelko, Jamie (Rob) Mulkey, Katie (Rick) Rutledge, Tony (Jessica) Wojtylko, Casey (Lynn) Perryman, Megan (Drew) Roberts and his great-grandchildren, Cameron, Madison, Joey and Denny. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley in 2008, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 3-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the funeral home. Rev. Ken Peterson will officiate with burial following at Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen.
