Walter H. Denker, age 82, of West Branch, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Michigan Home for the Veterans in Grand Rapids. He was a resident of Gladwin-West Branch area since 1969, formerly of Fenton. He was a life member of Curtis Woverton VFW Post# 3243 in Fenton. He served in Army Aircore during WWII in the Pacific. Walter was employed by General Motors until his love of hunting and fishing eventually brought him north to live in the late 60's where he worked as a self employed mason until the 80's. His music ability was enjoyed by family and friends, playing organ, guitar, banjo and just about any instrument he could get his hands on. He was a wonderful husband and father that was a joy to his children. His grandchildren have many stories to tell of their time spent with him and he will be greatly missed by us all. Mr. Denker is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret, son, Michael (Belinda) Denker of Burton, son, Thomas (Ronna) Denker of Loxahatchee, Fl, daughter, Irene(Don) Moore of Mio, daughter, Sandra (John) Vercammen of West Branch, son, Patrick (Cindy) Denker of Warren, grandchildren, Thomas, Kenneth, Randy, Amy, Yvonne, Robert, Michele, Kelsey, Aaron, Andrew, Rachel, Brandon, and 14 great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for the Veterans or to the Alzheimers Foundation.
