Walter E. Laugavitz, age 87 of St. Helen, passed away at his home after a brief illness. Walter had lived in St. Helen since 1984, formerly of Clio. He was a member of the VFW #5680 and the American Legion Post #416 both of St. Helen and the Michigan Sheriff’s Association. He retired from General Motors in 1984. Walter is survived by his wife Carol of St. Helen, his children, Norman Laugavitz of Bloomington, IL and Diane (Everett) Coy of Michiganne, grandchildren, Tony (Kim) Stockton, Sonya Coy and Jennifer Coy and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Phillip Laugivitz and Jack (Dorothy) Laugavitz both of Clio and his sister, Dorothea Murphy of Glenn Falls, NY. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Stockton, his parents, his brother Fredrick and his sister Helen. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Monday, February 2, 2009 from 1-5 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Roger Green will officiate. Burial will take place at Thetford Township Cemetery in Clio.
