Walter Dennis Simpkins Sr.

Walter Dennis Simpkins Sr., age 75, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home in Alger, MI. He had lived in Alger for the past 35 years, formerly of Pontiac, MI. Dennis was born on July 31, 1941 in Pontiac to Gerald and Dorothy (Bailey) Simpkins. He was a U.S. Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, politics, watching westerns, hunting and fishing.

Dennis is survived by his children, Laura (Brett) Theirbach of Clarkston, MI, Michelle (Mike) McGivern of Edwardsburg, MI, Dennis Simpkins Jr. of Flint, MI, and Shawn (Nick) Major of Newport, MI; 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; sisters, Judy (Jeff) Pitts and Carol Wallwork; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service with Veteran Honors will be held at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. The family will begin receiving friends at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Sam Cottle will officiate.
