Virginia "Ginger" Ann Houghtaling

Virginia “Ginger” Ann Houghtaling, age 67, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, MI. She had lived in West Branch, MI since 1989, formerly of Midland, MI. Ginger was born to Donald and Virginia (Reid) Wagnitz in Midland, MI on August 9, 1948. She was a member of the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch and the American Legion in Luzerne and St. Helen, MI. She previously served as the Klacking Township Clerk, and worked for the Ogemaw County Road Commission, Sales Director at the Quality Inn in West Branch, MI and worked for the Social Security Administration in Saginaw, MI. Ginger enjoyed horseback riding, scrapbooking, woodworking, crafts, BINGO, camping, reading, bowling, golfing, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, and helping others.

Ginger is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Alvin Houghtaling of West Branch, MI; daughters, Terri Waclawski of Eastlake, OH, and Tammi (Bill) Miller of Battle Creek, MI; son, Thomas “Tommy” (Beth) Mallak of Spencerville, OH; grandchildren, Amanda Hadaway, Jon Mallak, Ray (Leslie) Mallak, Tyler Chapman, Corbin Miller, and Evan Waclawski; great grandchildren, Anabella and Reese; and brother, Jack (Jennifer) Slack of Seattle, WA. She is preceded in death by parents, Donald and Virginia Wagnitz and brothers, Mike and Jeff Wagnitz.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI will begin on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Pastor David Kurtz will officiate.
