Vernon “Vernie” Bernard Wangler Jr., age 51, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in Lupton, MI. He had lived in West Branch, MI his entire life. Vernie was born to Vernon and Dolores (Illig) Wangler Sr. in West Branch on May 28, 1963. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #2022, the Moose Lodge, and Eagles. He enjoyed sports, especially football, hunting, spending time with his family, and harassing his friends.
Vernie is survived by his loving wife, Carrie (Fox) Wangler of West Branch, MI; children: Andrew Wangler of West Branch, and Jessica (Josh Busenbark) Wangler of West Branch; siblings: Verna (Doug) Bell of South Carolina, Helen (Bob) Bean of West Branch, Sue Neubecker of Nevada, Deb (George) Okon of Lansing, MI, Richard Wangler of West Branch, and Thomas (Sandy) Wangler of West Branch; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Dolores, and sister, Mary Beth.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI will begin on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a K of C Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, December 13, 2014, Vernie will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
