Vernon G. Henry

Vernon G. Henry, known fondly as Vern, age 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home in West Branch, MI surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on August 19, 1951, in Clare, MI to Wilfred and Dorrene (Pearson) Henry.  He lived in West Branch for the past 45 years formerly of Harrison, MI.  

On June 16, 1984, he married Sue Richardson in West Branch.

Vern was a dedicated maintenance supervisor at West Branch Rose City Schools for 35 years. He led a life filled with love and passion. Apart from his work, he found immense joy in music, playing in various bands throughout his life. GTO was the last band he played in, showcasing his deep-rooted love for music.

Vern's commitment to helping others extended beyond his profession. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. One of Vern's proudest accomplishments was the time spent with his family, especially his granddaughters Ariel and Alaina. His nurturing and caring nature will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

Vern is survived by his beloved wife Sue Henry, devoted son Alex (Megan) Henry, cherished granddaughters Ariel and Alaina Henry. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Ron) McCulloch and mother and father-in-law Jean and Larry Farley. In addition, he leaves behind in-laws James (Tina) Farley, Bob (Carol) Farley, and Rick (Dorothy) Mancebo and several nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.

He is predeceased by his parents, siblings Caroline (Fred) Yennior, Shirley Henry, and Bernard Henry, and sister in law Karen Farley.

The funeral service will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Donald Wolfgang will officiate.
