Vernon Cleveland Nichols

Vernon Cleveland Nichols, age 90, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in West Branch, MI. Vern was born on May 5, 1928 in Florence, AL to Hardiman and Mary (Risner) Nichols. He had lived in West Branch since 2001, formerly of Lupton. Vern married Dolores Jasman in Detroit, MI on April 23, 1949. He was a member of the West Branch Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, especially sunflowers, fishing, hunting, doing yard work, and feeding animals.

Vern is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dolores Nichols of West Branch; sons, Kenneth (JoAnn) Nichols of Warren, Thomas (Cathy) Nichols of Hale, and Jeff (Deana) Nichols of Hale; grandchildren, Marissa, Justin, Michael, Savannah, Natasha, Dylan, and Catriana; great grandchildren, Aiden, Ryleigh, Victoria, and Jameson; half-brothers, Gary Nichols of TX and Hardiman Brewer Nichols Jr. of TX; and half-sister, Carol Nichols of TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Vernon Nichols; daughter, Denise Nichols; brothers, Howard Nichols and Thomas Nichols; grandson, Devon Nichols; sister, Dorothy Nichols; half-brother, Weldon Nichols; and half-sister, Arietta Nichols.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Vern will then be transported to West Branch Church of Christ, 213 S. 8th St., for his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Ron Ledford will officiate.
