Vera L. Moore, age 85 of West Branch, passed away at her home Saturday, July 4, 2009. Vera had lived in the West Branch-Selkirk area since 1972. She was a member of Churchill United Methodist Church. She and her husband owned and operated the Gambles Store in Lapeer for 25 years until 1971 and she also worked as a bookkeeper for Benjamin Lumber in Rose City. Vera enjoyed dancing, camping and ceramics. At the age of 70 she took painting lessons and did many paintings. She also participated in the Mackinaw Bridge Walk for many years. Vera is survived by her children, Marcia Moore of Alma, Barbara (Elliott) Snow of Ann Arbor and Ronald Moore of West Branch, 6 grandchildren, Jeff, Rachel, Shawn, David, Neil and Nick and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Ruth Miller of Flint. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and a granddaughter, Sarah. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Churchill United Methodist Church. Rev. Cindy Gibbs will officiate with burial following at Selkirk Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Dobson Health Care and Hospice of Helping Hands for their kind care. Memorial contributions may be given to Churchill United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the Funeral Home.
