Velvae M Heistand

Velvae Marquerite Heistand, age 89 of Lupton, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 peacefully in her home. She was born June 21, 1924 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of John and Irene Thompson. She was a school teacher for 7 years and retired from the State of Michigan as a Social Worker. Velvae loved spending time with family especially her grandchildren. She was an avid quilter and has made one for each member of her family. She enjoyed being outside with her flowers and having tea parties with her granddaughters. She is survived by 3 children, Rex VanWormer of Prescott, Fay Letts (Donnie) of Prudenville & Ben VanWormer of Lupton, brother, John (Bette) Thompson of Rose City, sister, Marge Brown of Prescott, and sister in law, Danielle & Lou Meisch of Spring Lake. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren & 13 great great grandchildren. Velvae was preceded in death by 2 sons, Terry VanWormer & Ross VanWormer, parents, John & Irene Thompson; sisters, Olive, Helen, Leah Belle, Elda and brother, Walt. There will be a graveside service at the Rose City Cemetery on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 3:00 PM.
