Velma Marion Goatbe

Velma Marion Goatbe, age 97, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. She had lived in Prescott for her entire life. Velma was born on November 19, 1919 in Churchill Township, MI to Alba and Hilda (Carlson) David. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She was active in 4-H and served as a 4-H leader for several years. Velma enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, and baking, especially monkey bread and gumdrop cake for her grandchildren.

Velma is survived by her children, Georgia (Dave) Eno of Hale, MI, Norma Taylor of Prescott, MI and Arthur (Sharon) Goatbe of Clio, MI; grandchildren, Greg (Becky) Eno, Joy Road, Jeff Eno, Rick Taylor, Susanne Goatbe, Diane (Mark) Edgcombe, Michael Goatbe, and Ronald (Sarah) Goatbe; 14 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren; sister, Bernice (Lloyd) Muehfeld of Augusta, GA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Goatbe in 1992, son in law, Robert Taylor, 1 sister and 4 brothers.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Howard Travis will officiate. Burial will follow at Selkirk Cemetery.
