Tressa Spencer (nee Kanyok), 96, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Sterling. She was born Saturday, June 19, 1920 to the late Mike and Tressa Kanyok in Caro, Michigan. She was later raised by her stepmother, Elizabeth, and her father. She has lived at the Medilodge of Sterling since 2013; formally of Caro, MI, Fort Meyers, FL, and Wayne, MI.
Tressa was a chef/cook at many restaurants and the Tolfree Hospital. She was an excellent cook especially with her traditional Hungarian food. She also worked at a Pea Factory and did housekeeping. Tressa enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, crafting, playing cards, and the Detroit Tigers.
She is survived by her children: Lorraine Brindley of West Branch, MI and Danny (Sandy) Hayes of West Branch, MI; grandchildren: Cindy Lou, John Eugene, Carla Jean, James Allen, Chalmer Jr., Anthony, Vicky, Michael, Susan, Kendall, Gwenda, Benjamin, Jennifer, Terry, and George; as well as 31 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
Tressa is preceded in death by husband, Alvin Spencer; sons: John, Richard, and Jim; daughter, Elaine; grandson: Glen; brothers: Alex, John, Mike, and Charles; and sons-in-law: Carl and Chalmer.
A celebration of life service will take place in the spring in West Branch. She will be buried in Caro, MI.
