Thomas K. Bryce, age 63 of Alger, passed away Monday May 24, 2010 at his home. Tom was born in Bridgeport on July 17, 1946. He was raised by his great-aunt Annie whom he greatly admired. Tom was one of 14 children, 3 of which are deceased. He attended Bridgeport High School and was among the first graduating class of 1964. He joined the U.S. Army Reserves while he was a senior in high school and was discharged in 1970. Tom married the former Diane Satkowiak in Auburn on May 27, 1988. He was employed with Pepsi Cola in Saginaw from 1970-1988. He owned and operated a total of 4 small grocery/party stores over the years until he started T. Bryce Excavating in 1988, retiring in 2002. Tom is survived by his wife Diane of Alger, children; Mark (Anna) Bryce of Grand Rapids, Marcie (Marc) Brock of Woodhaven, Melissa (Shawn) Lutz of Rathdrum, ID, Misty (Jody) Bonnau of Pittsboro, NC and Michael Ellison of West Branch, grandchildren; Zachary, Lane, Drake, Cole, Broc, Juliana, Elle, Eric, Madeline and Leah. Also surviving are his siblings; James (Dorothy) Bryce of Bentley, Genevieve Baumgartner, Joan (Mike) Hall and Barbara (Tom) Westhoff all of Saginaw, Kathy Chernich, Richard Bryce and Timothy (Rexanne) Bryce all of Birch Run, John Bryce and David (Tori) Bryce both of Bridgeport and Gary Bryce of Vassar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oris and Ruth Bryce, sisters, Judy Clien and Beatrice Kellogg and a brother, Eugene Bryce. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Standish. Fr. Thomas Kowalczyk and Deacon Michael Arnold will officiate with burial following at Alger Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch.
