Thomas J. Mclaren

Thomas Joseph McLaren, age 91, passed away Wednesday September 4, 2013 at Bortz Health Care of West Branch. Tom was born September 26, 1921 in Coatbridge, Scotland to Robert and Sarah (McGlone) McLaren. He had resided in Macomb Township since 1976, formerly of Ferndale. Tom was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was one of the original members of the Perpetual Adoration Prayer Group. Tom enjoyed bowling, golf and gardening but most of all he enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tom is survived by his children, Terry (Tricia) McLaren of West Branch, Donald (Dorothy) McLaren of Royal Oak, Susan (Al) Burian of San Diego, CA, Kathy Murphy of Fields Landing, CA, Timothy (Becki) Murphy of Ferndale, WA, Thomas (Tamy) McLaren of Chesterfield Twp., MI and James (Kim) McLaren of Cynthiana, KY. , his grandchildren, Kim, Steven, Amy, Heather, Kerri, Melissa, Charlotte, Anthony, Briana, Caleb, Elishia, Sarah, Sean, Nicole, Tori, Ellie and his great-grandchildren, Dustin, Joshua, Madison, Christopher, Sadie, Malia, Leila, Mia, Marlee and Ayden. Also surviving is his brother Robert (Katie) McLaren of Roseville. He was preceded in death by his wives Charlotte L. (Droelle) McLaren and Theresa (Seurynck) McLaren, his daughters Beverly McLaren and Diane Goff and his grandsons, Michael Burian and Thomas D. McLaren. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. Visitation at the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Ave., Mt. Clemens, MI will begin on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 3-9 p.m. On Saturday, the family will receive friends at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mt. Clemens beginning at 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 9:00 a.m. Fr. Michael Cooney will officiate with burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
