Thomas Gene McCormack, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at his home in St. Helen, MI on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. He was born on July 15, 1944 in Monroe, MI to Claud and Lillian (May) McCormack. Tom McCormack was many things throughout his life; son, brother, husband, dad, brother-in-law, papa, uncle, godfather, friend, businessman, musician, and as he would say, “The smartest son-of-a-bitch you’re ever gonna meet.” He was a hard- working man who lived his life with integrity, determination and heart. As a man, he loved his wife beyond her dying day. As a dad, he loved and supported his children with everything he had, and more. As a papa he knocked being a grandpa out of the park. His generosity toward others had no bounds, always willing to give the shirt off his back, serve as a surrogate father, or simply provide much needed words of wisdom and support. Although much could be written about his professional accomplishments, and there were many, those who knew him are aware that music was his passion and came naturally to him. Through his amazing talent, he not only sang but could sit down and play the guitar, piano, organ, and pretty much whatever else he set his mind to. Music is what carried him through both good and bad times, so when you think of him, celebrate and honor his memory by simply remembering “The best times, the laughter and the song.”
Tom is survived by his children, Lindi (Sean) McClure, Thomas (Jill) McCormack Jr., and Charles (Shay) McCormack; grandchildren, Alyssa (Ben) Carney, Sarah McCormack, Haley (Andy) Penn, Cydney McCormack, Taylor McCormack, Paige Aaron McCormack and Trey McCormack; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Marcella (Richard) Peters and Jack (Suki) McCormack; god daughter, Megan Crist; and brothers in law, Larry (Kay) Green and Bud Matzke. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathleen McCormack, and sisters, Nancy Woodward and Geraldine Matzke.
