Thomas Arthur Meir

Thomas Arthur Meir, age 61, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born on May 4, 1962, in West Branch, MI to Clarence and Correan (Clemens) Meir and lived in Ogemaw County all of his life.

Tom served in the United States Navy from 1982 – 1986. He was a member of the Fresh Start Ministries in West Branch and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Tom was a great man. He was selfless, cared for everyone deeply, and gave his best in everything he did.

Tom married Sharon Page in West Branch on August 27, 2016.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sharon Meir of West Branch; son Scott (Jennifer) Evans of Mayport, FL; daughter Sabrina (Robert) Evans of Moyock, NC; stepdaughter Kristina (Cory) Mitrzyk of Sterling, MI; stepson Steven (Heather) Hanft of Waterford, MI; grandchildren Aubrey, Madison, Elijah, Carter, Taylor, and Walker; brothers David (Denise) Meir of Flint and Clayton (Debbie) Meir of West Branch; sisters Geraldine (David) Wakefield of Rose City and Flora Nichols of Bancroft, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bernard Meir and Leonard Meir.

Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in West Branch on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Jeremy Meir and Pastor Derek Whitacre will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery with veteran honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family.
