Thelma J. Knowles

Thelma J. Knowles, age 77, passed away May 21, 2005 at her home. Mrs. Knowles lived in St. Helen since 1975 formerly of Flint. She was a member of American Legion Post #416 and attended St. Helen Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, antiques, baking, garage sales, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Surviving family members include her husband Richard of St. Helen; daughters Sally Stuart of St. Helen; Diane (Keith) Cain of Punta Gorda, Florida; Susan Carter of Mio and Mary Fulton of Mt. Morris and step-sons Richard Knowles and Tony (Robin) Knowles, both of Kalkaska. Also surviving are grandchildren Tracy, Tammy, Wendy, Jennifer, David, Caleb, Mikael, Karen, Crystal, Danny, Jessica, Rebecca and great-grandchildren Ryan, Kaci, Nicole, Laney, Kyrsti, Spencer, Roy, Zachary, Michaela, Breana, Hilary, Wyatt, Jaylen, Dakota, Madison, Chloe, Sierra, Dominick, Nevaeh and Mrs. Knowle's sisters Marjorie (Donald) Jamrog of Jackson; O'delia (George) Benneh-Goergen of Flushing; Dorothy (Pat) Wright of Flint and Genevieve Murany of Lapeer. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Lucille and sisters Isabelle Sullivan and Rosemary LaDuke. The family wishes to give special thanks to Drs. Shrestha, Manawar, Abremson, Bruck and the staff at Bay Regional Medical Center for the special care she received. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will be on Tuesday May 24, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Sister Barbara Matienich O.P. officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
