Thelma H. Dent

Thelma Helena Offill Dent left her family on Easter Sunday, April 4th, 2010. Thelma was blessed with a wonderfully long life, living to the grand age of 96 and enjoying her favorite activites up until just the last few days of her life. Thelma was born in 1913 in Paulding, Ohio. When she was three years old, her family moved to a farm in the Mt. Pleasant, Michigan area. She was the oldest of eleven children with only her youngest sister, Nina Swade of Mt. Pleasant, surviving her in death. In 1934 Thelma married Robert Dent. In 1943 they moved to West Branch. There they raised six children: Vivian Gage, JoAnn Sharrow, Marjorie Ball, Terry Dent (Pattie), Claudia Simmons (Ken) and Kurt Dent (Connie), who all survive her. Grandma had 92 grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren. Robert preceded her in death in 1987. Thelma continued to live on her own in Grayling, returning to West Branch in 1998 to be nearer family. Thelma always loved visiting with family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
