Ted J. Gurzenda, age 83 of St.Helen passed away Monday June 13, 2005 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He had lived in St. Helen since 1970, formerly of Lincoln Park. He was a Grand Knight of the K of C, a lifetime member of the American Legion and a 10 time past commander and founder of VFW Post #5680, a WWII Veteran, chairman of the Democratic Party of Roscommon County, a Richfield Township Supervisor and he owned the Gurzenda Agency in St. Helen, selling real estate and insurance for many years. Ted is survived by his wife, Gerry of St. Helen, children--Richard (Lisa) Gurzenda of St. Helen, Barbara (Bob) Wilber of Lincoln Park, Mary Lou (Dennis) Reed of Troy, MO, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and his brothers, Gene (Rose) Gurzenda and Norbert (Jeanette) Gurzenda both of Wyandotte. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Gurzenda, daughter Bonnie Lankford, granddaughter Jackie Gurzenda, his brother Leon Gurzenda and sisters, Hattie Belkowski and Julie Karnish. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Tuesday June 14, 2005 from 5-9 P.M. and Wednesday from 1-9 P.M. There will be a K of C Rosary at 6:30 P.M. and a Scripture Service 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at St. Helen Catholic Church in St. Helen. Fr. Robert Bissot will officate with burial following at Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen.
