Steven Wayne MacKillop, 66, of St. Helen, died Jan. 23, 2017, in West Branch, with his family at his side.
Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, St. Helen, Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon for family and from noon to 2 p.m. for the public, with a luncheon to be held at the St. Helen Senior Center afterwards. In lieu of flowers, he requested that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association.
Born in Clawson to Finlay and Norma MacKillop, he lived most of his life in St. Helen. He retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Mr. MacKillop was a passionate man who enjoyed golf, sports, stargazing, birdwatching, gardening, making candles and spending time with friends and family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Barbara Conn; and brothers in-law, Gary and Arthur DeWulf.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Connie; daughters, Marcia McFarlane, Wendy Rathbun and Patty (Mark) Bartholomew; sons, Artie Wyatt and Matthew (Christine) MacKillop; brothers, Allan MacKillop, Brian (Jackie) MacKillop, Terry (Laura) MacKillop, Kevin (Lynn) MacKillop, Thad (Cathy) MacKillop and Ted (Rochelle) MacKillop; sister, Theresa (Dave) Hope; sister-in-law, Ginny (Dave) Trombley; many nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called him “Papa.”
