Shirley Louise Zink of West Branch, Michigan died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 11, 2021 at the age of 81.
Shirley was survived by her loving husband, Daniel James Zink, Sr. and her sons, Daniel (Cynthia) Zink, David (Patricia) Zink and Michael (Sherie) Zink. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Zink
She had nine grandchildren, Heather Zink, Aaron Zink, Jeremy (Carlye) Zink, Jason (Erica) Zink, Joshua (Londee) Zink, Jonathan (Chelsea) Zink, Jessica (David) Whitters, Jordan Zink and Jamie Zink. She also had seven great grandchildren.
Shirley Zink was born in rural Kentucky and spent many years helping on her grandfather's nearby farm. She moved to Michigan as a teenager, where she met the love of her life, Daniel. They were married on June 29, 1957 and would have celebrated 64 years together this month. Together, they raised four sons and were very active in the local church. Shirley spent time working at Mitzelfeld's in Rochester, Michigan, and serving as administrator for the Batavia School of Drafting. She later spent time as a secretary for Utica Evangelistic Center Church and she served alongside her husband in pastoral ministry for almost 30 years.
Shirley loved painting, gardening, her family and her Lord, Jesus Christ. Her beautiful landscaping was appreciated by her Lake Ogemaw neighbors.
She will be remembered for her selfless, sweet and giving nature. A truly loving mother, she donated a kidney to her eldest son, Dan, in 2002.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at Faith Alive Church, 2945 Hansen Road, West Branch, Michigan, 48661, 989-345-5440.
An interment service and small chapel service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 1 p.m at Christian Memorial Cemetery, 521 E. Hamlin Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan, 48316, 248-651-8192.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to her home church, Faith Alive Church in West Branch, Michigan.
