Shirley Jane O'Farrell

Shirley Jane O’Farrell, age 88, of Rose City MI. passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, November 12, 2016. She lived in Rose City since 1952, formerly of Highland Park, MI. Shirley was born on March 11, 1928 in Highland Park, MI to Victor and Lydia (Kendall) St. James. Shirley was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Women’s Guild, and the Third Order of St. Francis. She was a Hospice of Helping Hands volunteer and during the Ogemaw County Fair, she could be found in the fair booth. She also volunteered her time with the Cancer Society for over 20 years, Relay for Life, K of C Food Truck, working Bingo, and teaching CCD. Shirley was a huge supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She enjoyed arts and crafts, garage sales, traveling and going to the casino.

Shirley is survived by her children, Madonna (Gregory) Gehl of Rose City, MI, Linda (Robert) Fach of Rose City, MI, Thomas (Robin) O’Farrell of Rose City, MI, and Debbie (Daniel) Erbert-O’Farrell of Oxford, MI; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer O’Farrell, parents, Victor and Lydia St. James, and great granddaughter, Ava Lynn.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City, MI will begin on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00 a.m. and visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Fr.Joe Ortega will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
