Sarah Walt went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2005. The youngest of eleven children, she was born in Midland, Michigan to Frank and Otelia Retzloff. She married Lewis B. Walt in 1929 and they moved form Flint to Rose City in the 1940’s. Sarah was a homemaker and also worked at Rose City Schools and then as a caregiver to elderly people. She was a member of Lupton Friends Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She loves flowers and enjoyed tending to them in her garden. Her special ministry was cooking and baking (her pies were known far and wide) and delivering that food to folks in need. Her recipe for homemade Potato Soup remains a family favorite. She is survived by her beloved family: a daughter, Diane Kingsland and son in law Roger of Altamont, NY. Daughter in law, Juanita Walt of Rose City, Four grandchildren: Bill Walt (Teresa) of Maryville, TN. Bob Walt (Dawn) of Jenison, MI; Judy Wright (Douglas) of Butler, KY., Tedd Walt of Bremrton, WA. Five great grandchildren: Rachel & Griffin Wright; Allison, Thomas & Jonathan Walt. Also nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Lou Ann and Doc Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975 and her son, Gilbert 9/5/2005. Memorial Contribution may be made to Lupton Friends Church or Hospice of Helping Hands. Visitation will be Saturday, October 8, 2005 from 6-9 PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home in Rose City.
