Ruggero "Rug" Peter Dozzi

Ruggero “Rug” Peter Dozzi, age 65, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at his home in West Branch with his family by his side. Rug has been a resident of West Branch since 1974 previously of Gwinn, MI. Rug was born on October 23, 1951 in Ishpeming, MI to Felix and Laura (Cappovilla) Dozzi. He married Ann Goodreau in West Branch on October 8, 1977. Rug was a member of the of following organizations: MI Association of Computer Users, MI Collegiate Telecommunications Association, MI Association of Administrators of Special Education (Executive Board Member 2012-2013), MI Association of Intermediate Administrators of S.E. (President, 1996-1997 and 2012-2013), MI Association of Intermediate School Administrators, MI Association of Special Education Administrators, Northern MI Association of SE Administration, Council of Exceptional Children, Council for Advancement and Support Education, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel where he was Vice President, Early Childhood Investment Corporation, Michigan Optimists Club, Kirtland Foundation, Kirtland Community College – Board Trustee, Special Needs Counselor at Ogemaw Heights High School, Director of Special Education and Technology (1988-1999 and 2006-2016) at C.O.O.R. Intermediate School District, 2001 Recipient of the Murray O. Batten Humanitarian Award, American Youth Soccer Organization where he was a Coach and a Referee, Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus Council #2022, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Rug is survived by his wife, Ann Dozzi of West Branch; son, Felix (Beth) Dozzi of Ypsilanti, MI; son, Robert Dozzi of Bevery Hills, MI; mother, Laura Dozzi of Gwinn; brother, Sam Dozzi of Gwinn; sister, Mary (Dan) Finkelstein of Troy; special dog, Bear; He is preceded in death by his father, Felix Louis Dozzi.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI will begin on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. The Celebration of Life Mass will be on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
