Roy A. Wilcox

August 11, 1939 — November 6, 2021

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Roy Wilcox has passed peacefully from his home in Rose City, Michigan on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Roy was born on August 11, 1939 in Flint, Michigan to Lyle and Elnita (Archambault) Wilcox. He married the love of his life, Dianne’ Flewelling on November 20, 1962. Together, they had 4 children, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Roy was a true family man and adored his children and all his grandchildren. He enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by his family, who had the pleasure of knowing his goofy, practical-jokester, and affectionate side. Though he was usually the silent observer, being around them all brought him true joy.

In 1994, Roy retired from AC Sparkplug in Flint, Michigan where he worked for 32 years. During his time there, his life was transformed when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. After that, his work ethics rule became “if you’re going to do a job, do it right the first time.” When his career was finished, he and his wife retired to the Rose City area.

During his life, he achieved the level of Extra Class in Amateur Radio (HAM), call sign KG8A. He was an avid runner and participated many times in the CRIM and numerous other races. Roy was also a first degree blackbelt, Sho Dan, in the Koei Kan style of karate. He held many positions in church over the years including deacon, Sunday school teacher, Jr. High superintendent, captain of the bus ministry, treasurer, and participated in prison ministry. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Lupton, Michigan.

Roy Wilcox is survived by his wife Dianne’; children Laura (Tod) Dehmel, Roy (Tamara) Wilcox Jr., Patrick (Kelly) Wilcox, and Thomas Wilcox; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his siblings Lyle Charles (Tina) Wilcox, twin brother Ray (Earlene) Wilcox, Mary Wilcox, and Theresa (Roger) Richards. He is predeceased by his mother and father, and siblings Demerese (Robert) Boggs, and Delores (Roger) Williams.

He will be deeply missed by his family. We are joyful that he is in Heaven with his Savior and those that have gone before him.

Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Paul Heaton will officiate.
