Rose Mary (Schwemle) Ashley age 86, of St. Helen, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. She was born October 20, 1925 in Detroit, the daughter of Ruby and Ralph Blay. She had lived in St. Helen since 1974, formerly of Detroit. Rose Mary was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in St. Helen, Red Hat Association, VFW and Eastern Stars for 37 years. Rose Mary is survived by sons, Fred (Laureen) Schwemle of Warren, Gary (Sherry) Schwemle of St. Helen, daughters, Diane (Ron) Lain of Holland, Audrey Hesson of Brownstown, sisters, Jeanne Lyons of Fenton, Mary Jane (Harry Basham) Dare of Lincoln Park, Ileen (Joe) Raniszewski of Dearborn Heights, and brother, Donald (Dolly) Blay of Flat Rock. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Elwin H. Schwemle, parents, Ruby and Ralph Blay, brother, Edward Blay, and sister, Anna May Guyot. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, 702 N. St. Helen Road, St. Helen, MI 48656 will begin Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 2-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 635 N. M-76, St. Helen, MI 48656 at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 20, 2012 with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service. Rev. Rodney Morrison, Pastor will officiate. Burial will take place on Friday at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church in St. Helen.
