Roger Willard Wangler

Roger Willard Wangler, age 78, a cherished member of the West Branch community, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at his home in Prescott, MI. He was born to Willard and Alice Irvadene (Evans) Wangler on March 27, 1946, in West Branch. He lived in Prescott for the past 28 years, formerly of West Branch.

On January 29, 1998, he married Stephanie Rupinski in Sevierville, TN. 

Roger dedicated his life to the land he loved, becoming a 4th generation farmer and the owner/operator of Wangler Dairy, what is now known as Bo-Te Farms. His commitment to farming not only sustained his family but also contributed greatly to the agricultural fabric of the region until his retirement in 2018.

An alumnus of West Branch High School, graduating in 1964, Roger embodied the spirit of community engagement throughout his life. He went on to receive an associate’s degree from Michigan State University in Agriculture Dairy Management. He served diligently on the board of State Savings Bank and held the esteemed position of President of FFA showcasing his passion for fostering the next generation of farmers. His legacy of hard work and dedication is reflected in the family business, which remains a pillar in the community.

Roger was known for his hardworking nature and his friendly disposition. He had an innate ability to connect with people, often found engaging in heartfelt conversations and visiting with neighbors and friends. His warmth and kindness made him a beloved figure in the area, where he made countless memories with those around him.

In the winter months, Roger and Stephanie enjoyed wintering in Williston, FL. They enjoyed spending time with the friends they had made throughout the years.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Stephanie, his children, Kim (Tom) Buhlman, Teri (Jeff) Grieb, and Bo (Karen) Wangler; grandchildren Clarence (Sylvia) Buhlman, Chad Buhlman, Madison Grieb, Jacob Grieb, Kristine Dowell, Matt (Ashley) Dowell, Mellisa (Mark) Trout, and Kaylyn (Andrew) Clelland. His legacy also extends to his 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who will surely carry on his spirit and values.

Roger is also survived by his siblings, Marsha (Tom) Schnautz, Roxann (Jamie) Moore, and Ed Wangler, as well as his aunt, Marlene (Roy) Wiltse. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Paul Wangler, and sisters-in-law, Jean and Kathryn.

A memorial visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

A celebration of life, with dinner, will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds in West Branch. 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Willard and Irvadene Wangler Scholarship Fund or the West Branch Rose City Area FFA.

In this time of mourning, let us remember Roger for the unwavering love he radiated and the many lives he enriched through his tireless dedication to his family and community. His legacy will continue to grow in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him dearly.
