He was a dedicated individual who served his country with honor during WWII in the Army and received several accolades including a Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Victory Medal, Bronze Arrowhead Croix de Guerre, and European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 4 Bronze Service Stars.
In 1996, Robert discovered a talent for ceramics and woodcarving which became one of his proudest accomplishments. Under the guidance of Lark Nelson of St. Helen, he honed his skills and showcased his craftsmanship at prestigious events like the Frankenmuth Woodcarvers Guild Show. He was a member of the St. Helen Carvers Club for many years.
Robert is survived by his loving children Gary (Barb) Schroder, Veda Thomas, and Sheila Goscicki; grandchildren Kevin (Mary), Ryan (Tabitha), Mike (Evelyn), Danny (Georgie), Gary, David, Ben (Justine), and Rob; great-grandchildren Aiden, Emma, Kade, Max, Owen, Mikey, Brandon, Jake, Nic, Kiley, Megan, Macy; Mathew Carley Sidney Kayla Bennie; and Robert; as well as great-great-grandchildren Jax and Mac; and many loving friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Minnie (Hyde) Schroder and his beloved wife Thelma in 2017.
Cremation has taken place, and no service is scheduled at this time.
