Robert Lee Charles Parkinson, age 79, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at The Brook in West Branch. He was born on May 25, 1939 in Jackson, MI to Lawrence and Josephine (Schaefer) Parkinson. He lived in West Branch since 2014, formerly living in East Jordan for several years. Robert graduated from St. Joseph High School and served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1963-1965. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycles and snowmobiling.
Robert is survived by his brothers, Tom (Barb) Parkinson of Hillman, Larry Parkinson of Hale, Chuck (Louise) Parkinson of South Branch, and David (Bev) Parkinson of Chatman; sister, Mary Morris of West Branch; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Florine, sisters in law, Nona Parkinson and Chris Parkinson and brother in law, Allan “Goober” Morris.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial will be at North Star Cemetery in North Star, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or charity of your choice.
