Robert LeRoy Haines, age 79, known to his friends and colleagues as "Bob," passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at MyMichigan Hospital in West Branch, MI. He was born on Tuesday, August 29, 1944, in Pontiac.
Bob dedicated over 25 years of his life as a janitor with General Motors in Pontiac. His work ethic and fun-loving personality made him a beloved figure among his coworkers, friends, and family.
Aside from his successful career, Bob was also an Army veteran who proudly served his country. He was a part of various organizations, including the VFW, American Legion, and Eagles.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed golfing and coaching softball. He had a deep passion for music and dancing, as well as watching NASCAR races.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette of West Branch; stepchildren Kelly Penn of Harsens Island, Dorothy (Walt) Schuhmacher of West Branch, Debbie (Dan) O'Conner of Harrison Township, Ricky Penn of Illinois, and Dawn Penn of Mt. Clemens; several nieces and nephews; and siblings Judy, John, Darlene, Nancy, and Gary. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
Bob's wishes were to be cremated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 4039 W. Rose City Rd, West Branch, MI 48661 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a veteran service at 2:30 p.m. provided by the Ogemaw County Veteran Alliance.
He will be laid to rest at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in the Haines family plots.
His warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Bob's legacy of hard work, kindness, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
