Robert G. Mester, age 74 of West Branch, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2013 at Bortz Health Care. Robert had lived in West Branch since 1999, formerly of Royal Oak and Warren. Robert was employed by Wangler & Sons Trucking, was associated with the Rods & Relics Car Club and a lifelong member of the Teamsters Union. Robert was raised Presbyterian and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak. Later in life he joined the Catholic Church. He enjoyed boating and being on the lake. Robert was a very generous and caring person who would always go the extra mile to help a friend. Robert is survived by his wife Bonnie Mester of West Branch, children Jeanette (Michael) Benak and Kevin (Garianne) Mester both of Denver, CO, Holly Mester and Noelle (Mark) McPherson both of West Branch, Melissa Montgomery and Amanda (Tony) Palitti both of Warren, Lisa Montgomery of West Branch and John (Lori) Montgomery of Algonac, 2 grandchildren Nyah Mester and Addison McPherson. Also surviving are his brothers Earl Walton (Jane) Mester of Mayville, WI and Honorable Fred (Lynne) Mester of Bloomfield Hills, his sister-in-law Doris Mester and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Roy Dean Mester and his parents Earl and Hilda. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. Deacon Glen Painter will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.
