Robert G. “Flicker” Linsenman, age 83 of West Branch passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2009. He had lived in West Branch all of his life. He was born March 5, 1926 to Leo and Lavina (Buckel) Linsenman in Edwards Township, West Branch, Michigan. Robert was united in marriage to Virginia Meuhlen on May 3, 1952 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch all his life. Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia, his two children, Cheryl Wakefield of Waco, TX and Terry (Tracie) Linsenman of West Branch, 4 grandchildren, Mathew and Mari Linsenman of West Branch, Lori (Michael) Wilson of Waco, TX and Susan (Paul) Phillips of Honolulu, Hawaii, four great-grandchildren, Garrett and Brock Wilson of Waco, TX and Wyatt and Brett Phillips of Hawaii. Also surviving is his sister, Katherine Mier of West Branch and his brother in law, Robert Meuhlen of Clio. Robert was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Sharon Anne and his son Gary Robert, his parents, Leo and Lavina Linsenman, his brother Eugene, brother in law, Burt Mier and his sister in law, Ruthmary Meuhlen. Robert enjoyed working with wood, going hunting and being with his family. Robert worked for General Motors in Pontiac, Flint and Saginaw and after his marriage he returned to West Branch. He worked as a carpenter, then at Taylor Building Products as an engineer and supervisor of the house door line, retiring after 21 years of service. Robert was very involved with the Knights of Columbus Council 2022-3rd Degree and the 4th Degree, All Saints Assembly 1745 of West Branch and the All Saints color guard. He served on the Columbus Home Association and was an usher at St. Joseph Church. He also served as constable for Ogemaw Township for over 40 years. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 3-9 p.m. with a K of C Rosary at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch. Fr. Patrick Maher will officiate with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Hospice of Helping Hands.
