Robert C. Dufault, 85, of Gladwin died on Monday, July23, 2018.
He was born on July 15, 1933 in Windsor, Ontario the son of Paul L. Dufault and Helen Margaret Lappan. He was married to Martha Ann Hubbard and stayed together for 53 years.
Robert graduated from David Mackenzie High School ‘52 in Detroit. He joined the army during the Korean War and later went to Wayne State University. He graduated from Wayne State with a bachelor degree majoring in English and minor in history. Bob retired from working as an insurance adjuster for State Farm after 32 years.
His entire life Bob loved the arts and reading. In college, he loved spending time at the Detroit Institute of Arts. He was inspired to pursue endless hobbies with the support of his wife.
He painted, made wine, studied Civil War and American History, enjoyed singing and listening to classical music. He produced maple syrup and was a beekeeper sharing his products with friends and co-workers. Martha and he were serious gardeners growing berries, vegetables and beautiful flowers. Together, they had a hobby farm with horses, rabbits, dogs, cats and for a while, a goat. Following the lead of his father, Bob engaged in woodworking his entire adult life making furniture, boxes and turning bowls. His last 3 years he enthusiastically dedicated himself to making a violin in his shop and learning to play the violin.
He was a loving and active father. He was supportive of his daughters and their activities by volunteering for Horse 4-H and Ogemaw Heights Music Boosters.
He is survived by his 4 daughters, Nancy (Michael D.)Isaacson of Ishpeming, MI,; Cynthia(Bob)Silski of Dearborn Heights, MI; Lorraine(Travis )Miller of Prescott, MI,; Justine (Scott)Metras of Iron Mountain, MI. He adored his 7 grandchildren Michael R. Isaacson, Matthew Silski, Ethan, Chance and Alison Metras, Gavin and Tristan Miller. He is survived by his loving sisters, Adrienne Awender, Jeannine Dufault and brother, Edward Dufault. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha Dufault, brother Paul E. Dufault and sister Deanna Lewis.
Visitation will be held at 5444 N. M-30, Gladwin, MI on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. An Outdoor Service and Celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Norman Miller will officiate.
