Richard John Scheid

Richard John Scheid, age 88, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his home in Alger, MI. He was born on June 26, 1929 in Detroit, MI to Joseph and Martha Scheid. Dick has lived in Alger for the past 25 years, formerly of Spring Hill FL and Royal Oak, MI. He served in the Army during the Korean War and retired from AT&T as a cable tech. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Standish, the Forest Lake Association, and a former Boy Scout Leader. Dick enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and boating.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances Scheid; children, Steven (Catherine) Scheid; Suzanne (Brian) McDonald, Sandra (Peter) Wakefield, Sharon Scheid, Stuart Scheid, Sally (Stephen) Mitchell, Sharlene Cardenas, and Scott Scheid; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alger. Burial with military honors will follow at Alger Cemetery.
