Richard Earl Thiell

Richard Earl Thiell, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at his home in Alger, MI with his family by his side. He was born on December 5, 1939 in Flint, MI to John and Mary (Preston) Thiell. Dick married Judy Ishmael on December 6, 1986 and they have lived in Alger for over 26 years, previously of Flint. Dick was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous and was 38 years sober. He was a huge NASCAR fan and shared a mutual love of the driver Chase Elliott with his daughter, Barbara. Dick enjoyed cars and raced stock cars when his children were younger. He was a beginner at the start of this journey and a true winner at the finish line.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Judy Thiell of Alger; daughters, Debra (Brian) Bouwens of Lake, MI and Barbara Cissell of Port Orange, FL; sons, Richard E. (Chris) Thiell Jr. of Swartz Creek, MI and John M. (Roxanne) Thiell of Mikado, MI; step-son, Scott (Elly) Elder of Durand, MI; sister, Nina Oakes; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his furry grandson, Ronin; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Beverly and son-in-law, David.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Visitation for Dick will be held with precautions due to the current pandemic, limiting the number of attendees at a given time.
