Mr. Monahan passed away at his home. He had been a resident of Alger since 2000, formerly of Roseville. He was a member of the Shriners, the Moose Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. He was a jack-of-all-trades, he loved being in his pole barn and he was very organized. He was well loved by many people. Mr. Monahan is survived by his wife Evelyn Monahan of Alger, children, Joyce (Edward) Forth of Chesterfield, Ken (Nancy) Monahan of Roseville, Richard Monahan Jr. of Sterling Heights, Judith Monahan and Alice Monahan, stepchildren, Jeff Tatum of Sterling Heights and Donald Tatum of Royal Oak, grandchildren--Stephanie, Brittany, Joey, Sarah, Dylan and Hannah. Also surviving are his sisters, Judith Monahan of St. Clair Shores, Mary (Bill) Kalmar of Oxford and Marge (Jeff) Kitchman of Richmond, sisters in law, Andrea (George) Plotkowski of Auburn Hills and Dorothy Griesman of White Lake and his brother in law, Robert (Rebecca) Pirie of Lennon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marion Monahan. Visitation began at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Monday July 5, 2004 and a Masonic Service was held at 7:30 P.M. A Luncheon will be held on Tuesday July 6, 2004 from 12-4 P.M. at the American Legion Post #370 in Alger. Visitation will then be held at the Wujek-Calcaterra and Sons Funeral Home in Sterling Heights on Thursday July 8, 2004 from 2-9 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday July 9, 2004 at the funeral home.
