Rev. Dr. Dennis N. Paulson, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 19, 2015 in Alger, MI. He was residing in Alger, formerly of the Warren and Ferndale, MI areas. Dennis was born to Norman and T. Elizabeth (Vuolle) Paulson in Detroit, MI on February 19, 1950. He began serving in the ministry in 1970 and has been a pastor at many congregations throughout Michigan for the past 45 years. He was a member with the Masons and Shriners and taught at SVSU and Wayne State as an Adjunct Professor. Throughout the years, Dennis served as a Chaplin for many police and fire agencies. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and Community Theater.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Gerrie Paulson of Alger; children, Rachel (Adam Garagiola) Paulson of St. Clair Shores, MI, Andrea (Josh) Hoffman of Riverdale, MI, and Sarah Paulson of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Dee, David, Lyle, Jonathan, Rebekah, Myah, Matthew, Benjamin, Isaac, and Seth; siblings, Michael (Cathy) Paulson, Norma (Charles) Bawtinheimer, and Charles (Vicki) Paulson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Grace.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Bill Dobbs and Rev. Tim Dibble will officiate. The burial will follow at the Alger Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Gordon officiating.
