Raymond J. Willett

Mr. Willett, age 75 of West Branch passed away at Bortz Health Care in Rose City. He was born in Detroit to Raymond and Anne May (Sifton) Willett. He worked most of his life at General Motors Hydromatic Plant in Ypsilanti as a supervisor. When he retired, he moved to the Rose City area and spent the rest of his life on 40 acres east of town. He called it "God's Country." He loved to fish and hunt, but in his later years he could not bring himself to kill a deer. He enjoyed watching them when they came into the yard. He also loved to feed and watch the birds. Mr. Willett is survived by his wife of 56 years, Roberta Turpin Willett, son--Mark (Susan) Willett, grandchildren--Marianne (Dermot) O'Brien and Kyle Willett and a great-grandson, Connor O'Brien. He was preceded in death by a son Kevin, 3 brothers--Charles "Bud" (Verna), Edwin (Rosalind) and Elton "Scotty" (Lucille) and a sister Doris (James) Murray. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday September 17, 2004 from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. Elder Richard Hamilton will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
