Mr. Durham passed away at West Branch Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He had lived in West Branch since 1975, formerly of Port Huron. He graduated from Taylor University in 1962 with a Bachelors Degree in Education and he received a Masters Degree in Counseling from Michigan State University. He received many sports awards in basketball and track while at college. He was a past missionary for the School Teachers for Overseas Crusades in the Philippines, a member of Venture for Victory Sports Evangelism, a member of the MHSAA, a former basketball and golf coach at Ogemaw Heights High School for many years and served as a High School Counselor at Ogemaw Heights from 1975 to 2000. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the West Branch Country Club. Mr. Durham is survived by his wife, Adrien Durham of West Branch, children--Katherine (Steve) Palmateer of Port Huron, Raymond (Kim) Durham of Woodland and James (Dawn) Durham of Grand Rapids, 9 grandchildren and his sisters, Mary Jane Barger of Cleves, OH and Ruby Mauz of Harrison, OH. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cody Crider of West Palm Beach, FL. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday February 28, 2004 from 7-9 P.M. and Sunday from 1-8 P.M. Mr. Durham will lie in state at the Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch on Monday, March 1, 2004 from 3:30 until the time of the service at 4:30 P.M. Pastor Thomas Teall will officate with burial following at the Calvary Baptist Cemetery, West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
