R. Jean David, age 76 of West Branch, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 at her home after an extended illness. Jean had lived in West Branch since 1954 and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 27 years. She was also a member of the St. John Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Jean owned and operated Real Estate One from 1980 to 1995. She was a West Branch city council member for 11 years and was on the Board of Review for 10 years. Jean is survived by her husband, Louis David of West Branch, children, Barbara (Larry) Watson, Robert “Farmer” (Michele) David and Bruce (Leigh) David all of West Branch, her grandchildren, Chad and Drew Watson, Brandon and Christopher David and Eric, Adam and Evan David, and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her six sisters, Bertha Kruger and Inez Thomas both of Sanford, Della Merril of Bay City, Ella Brown of Au Gres and Arthela Nelson of Midland and her sister-in-law, Doloros Thomas of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marion and Richard Thomas. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1-9 p.m. On Thursday, May 29, 2008, Jean will lie in state at St.John Lutheran Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Howard Travis will officiate with burial following at Brookside Cemetery, West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch.
