Phyllis E. Szyszlo

Phyllis E. Szyszlo passed away Saturday February 14, 2009 at her home in St. Helen, she was 75 years old. Phyllis had been a resident of St. Helen since 1994 previously of Rochester Hills. She was very active in the Ladies Aux. of the American Legion. She was a past member of the Clawson Post#167 where she served as past secretary and past president. Most recently she had been active at the St. Helen Post#416 where she enjoyed working as their bar manager. She was also one of the charter members of the Eagles in Clawson. Phyllis enjoyed volunteering her time at the St. Helen Bluegill festival. She also enjoyed fishing and playing euchre, but most of all she will be remembered for the great love she had for her family. Phyllis is survived by her husband Stanley Szyszlo of St. Helen, 5 children John (Patty)of Hazel Park ;Kim (Tony) of St. Helen; Chris (Victoria) of Colorado; Richard (Shelley) of Ferndale; and Charles (Kathy) of White Lake Twp. 11 Grandchildren, Brian,Angie ( Rob); Kathleen; Jessica(Brian); Ivor (Mariah); Kristen (James); Charles (Tammy); Megean; Noel; Christopher; and Haley. 8 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. 2 Brothers John (Dolores) Griffiths, Joe (Barbara) Griffiths, and sister Kathleen (Pete) Jonko. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Ina, sister Gwen, and her children, Richielee and Leslie. Visitation for Phyllis will be held Tuesday February 17, 2009 from 5-9 PM and Wednesday February 18, 2009 from 1-9PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen. The funeral will be on Thursday February 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Lonnie Severance will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice P.O.
